Sinefa provides Continuous Network Evaluation and measures three fundamental characteristics of the data network: Capacity, Utilization and Quality. Or more loosely known internally at Sinefa as 'the three amigos [of networking]'.At Sinefa we believe that if an organisation has a good understanding of network Capacity, Utilization and Quality, they can make decisions which will increase the performance of the network while decreasing network costs.
Decreasing costs is a big one, according to Gartner 45% of the Global IT spend was for Telecommunication services at a cost of $1.75 trillion with a forecasts annual growth of 5.3% through to 2015. *Forecast Alert: IT Spending, Worldwide, 2008-2015, 2Q11 Update, Published: 28 June 2011
Introducing the three amigos:
Capacity: Measures the network’s true bandwidth capacity. Is it over-provisioned, is it configured correctly? Does it fluctuate or is it consistent?
Utilization: Tells you how the network is being used and which applications / users are consuming bandwidth. How is the utilization changing over time? Allows network designers to better understand and plan for network and application growth and to see if their network is being chewed up by recreation applications such as Facebook and Youtube.
Quality: Tells you the truth about network quality? Is it quality as expected? Understanding the network’s quality and how it affects application performance is key in troubleshooting and improving customer and user experience.
